Easy to pay

When you’re at the checkout of your favourite coffee shop or at the supermarket, with Apple Pay you enjoy the peace of mind of a Bancontact payment with a simple tap. It lets you pay quickly by connecting your Apple device directly to the payment terminal, even if you don’t have mobile data or Wi-Fi. Here’s how it works.

  • With iPhone: double-click the side button on your phone and unlock it via Face ID or Touch ID, then hold your iPhone near the terminal.
  • With Apple Watch: double-click the side button and hold your watch face near the contactless reader.

Where can I use it?

You can pay with confidence wherever you see the contactless symbol. From your local bakery to your favourite big brands, if they accept contactless Bancontact payments, you can pay with Apple Pay.

Who offers it?

Currently, Belfius customers can link their Bancontact cards to Apple Pay. We are working closely with other banks to make this available to more users soon.

Is it secure?

Your security is our priority. Apple Pay uses the same high standards of protection you expect from Bancontact. Every payment is authenticated by you via Face ID or your passcode. Your card details are kept private by using a secure digital code instead of your card number, and every payment is confirmed by you. This ensures that even though the way you pay has evolved, the fundamental safety of a Bancontact payment remains exactly the same.

Stay vigilant against fraud

While the technology behind Apple Pay is highly secure, it is not fool proof against all types of fraud. Scammers may still try to obtain your card details through phishing or theft to add them to their own devices.

Always keep your physical card and device passcodes safe and never share one-time security codes with anyone: not even if they claim to be from your bank or Bancontact. If your card is missing, or if you suspect any fraudulent activity, act immediately:

  • Call Card Stop: dial 078 170 170 immediately (available 24/7) to block your card.
  • Contact your bank: notify your bank contact centre to report the issue and secure your account.
