Sign an online agreement with all relevant parties.

Each will receive a link to submit their online signature. About three days later, we will send you a welcome email, from which point you can start setting up your Payconiq payment solution.

How does Payconiq work?

Payconiq is a payment service that allows you to receive payments through a QR code. Your customers scan the QR code using the Payconiq by Bancontact app or another payment app that supports Payconiq, and then confirm the amount to be paid. The funds are then transferred to your bank account. You can track incoming Payconiq payments in real-time through the Merchant Portal, which is a website that you can access from any device.

As a rule, a Payconiq payment follows three simple steps:

  1. Your customer scans your QR code.
  2. Your customer enters the amount (if required by your Payconiq solution) or simply confirms the amount displayed on their smartphone screen.
  3. Your customer confirms the payment.

What documents do I need when applying to open a merchant account, and what is a UBO and CDD check?

When you apply for a Payconiq merchant account, we are legally obligated to carry out certain checks. This helps prevent fraud, money laundering and financing of terrorism. This is why we request certain documents and information. 

In this table, you can find the necessary documents and additional information required for each type of enterprise.   

Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO):  

In most cases, we need a UBO of the company.  

A UBO is the ultimate beneficiary of a company, i.e. persons who directly or indirectly own shares or are directors. We only need the details of UBOs who own 25% or more of the company's shares.

 Identity check (CDD check) 

 We are obligated to identify and verify a company's legal representatives.

All personal data and documents are processed and stored securely, in accordance with Belgian and European regulations.

How much does Payconiq cost?

Are you using Payconiq thanks to an agreement with Bancontact Payconiq Company NV (Payconiq)?

  • If so, the price is usually approximately €0.06 per transaction for in-store payments and €0.20 for online payments. You will also pay an annual operating fee of €18 per merchant account.

Are you using Payconiq payments through a third-party agreement?

  • If so, the price will be determined by the third party involved, i.e. your payment service provider.

Are my payments secure with Payconiq?

Yes. Payconiq complies with the strict security standards imposed on all Belgian financial institutions (encryption) and also allows every confirmed payment to be tracked in real time.

All incoming payments shown in the Payconiq transaction overview are 100% guaranteed.

  • Via the merchant portal: a website that provides a real-time overview of your transactions, accessible from any device with an internet connection.
  • Via the Payconiq GO app or via go.payconiq.be, where a payment confirmation instantly pops up on your screen.

Encrypted data (encryption)

All data during the payment process is encrypted. This ensures that personal and transaction details remain fully protected.

Where do I go to check my transactions?

For all Payconiq solutions connected and billed through Payconiq (such as the Payconiq QR code sticker or Payconiq GO solution), you can monitor successful transactions in real-time in the Merchant Portal. Read here how to do this.

Payconiq GO: You can also monitor Payconiq GO payments received through the Payconiq GO merchant app or via go.payconiq.be.

Payconiq payments made through the Payconiq payment solution of a Payconiq partner can often also be consulted on the partner's platform.

Payconiq payments for solutions where transactions are not invoiced by Payconiq, such as Payconiq transactions via a payment terminal or PSP (Payment Service Provider), cannot be monitored in the Merchant Portal. These payments are only visible on the overview or platform provided by the partner.

Will I receive a QR code sticker following activation?

For subsequent Payconiq solutions, you will automatically receive a QR code sticker in the post within 10 days of applying for your Payconiq merchant account via the welcome pack.

However, you don't have to wait to start receiving payments. While you're waiting, you can print your QR code yourself by following the steps outlined here.
